Registration

Residents must have an account to edit this wiki, which can be requested by emailing web@parkhillpeople.org

Self-registration is not enabled as we have been advised that the time spent by Admin users dealing with damage done by spambots can be greater than the time spent manually setting up an account.

Logging In

Click the [Login] link in the top right corner of the screen and enter you Username and Password.  To change your password, go to Special Pages (in the left hand menu list) and then Users and Rights>Change Credentials.  Select your Username and enter your new password.

Once logged in, you will see additional options have appeared in the menu bar across the top of the screen.

Editing

Navigate to the page you wish to edit, using the links provided or search box.

If you wish to create a page that does not exist, type the name of the page into the search box.  Assuming there is no existing page with that name, you will see the text - Create the page "xyz" on this wiki!  Click on the red text to create that page.

There are 2 methods of editing:

Visual Editor.  This is most user friendly and similar to using word processing software.

Source Editor.  This method is more coding based so requires more understanding to use.  It does however offer a significantly greater degree of control and customisation.

Visual Editor

  1. Click [Edit] on the top menu.  The editor bar will appear below the top menu.
  2. You will now be able to edit the text.  Key functionality of the editor bar includes:
    • Set text type to sub headings if you are adding a new sub section (this will also ensure it appears in the automatically generated contents box for the page).
    • Underline, bold, italicise text.
    • Undo and redo.
    • Add a hyperlink to an external website or another wiki page.  Place the cursor on the word or phrase and click the link button.  Either type the wiki page name or paste in the hyperlink to the external webpage.
    • Add citation.
    • Change to Source editor by clicking the pen icon.
  3. Once you have finished your edits, click [Save changes]

Source Editor

Click [Edit source] on the top menu
